Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Business Energy Claim (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use businessenergyclaim.uk and when we assess and refer business energy contract enquiries.

We handle personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy sets out what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

We are not a law firm. We assess whether a business energy contract shows signs of an undisclosed broker commission and, where appropriate, refer suitable enquiries to an independent solicitor firm.

Who We Are

Business Energy Claim is a company registered in England and Wales. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a Data Controller.

Who We Share Your Data With

The independent solicitor firm we refer your enquiry to, where your case looks eligible and, where required, with your consent; staff and contractors who need access to deliver the service; IT and hosting providers; our own professional advisers; a buyer or successor if the business is sold; and regulators where legally required.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes.

International Transfers

If any of our service providers process data outside the UK or the EEA, we make sure appropriate safeguards, such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses, are in place before that transfer happens.

Automated Decision-Making

We don’t make decisions about your eligibility using automated processing alone. A person reviews every enquiry before any referral decision is made.

Keeping Your Data Secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls, encryption where appropriate, and staff training, to protect your data. If a breach occurs that’s likely to affect your rights, we have procedures to investigate and notify the ICO and affected individuals where the law requires it.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for, or to meet legal and regulatory requirements. For specific retention periods, contact us at the address below.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to be told how your data is used, access it, correct it, delete it in certain circumstances, restrict or object to processing, receive it in a portable format, and avoid decisions based solely on automated processing. Some rights have conditions attached.

Where we rely on your consent, for example for marketing, you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message.

Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies run on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and functional. Everything else, including analytics and marketing cookies, only runs with your consent, which you can change at any time via the cookie settings link in the site footer.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here, with the date at the top updated accordingly.
